Jalanadhara means to ‘Stop the Stream’. This Bandha helps to quieten the mind and build Prana in the chest. It is very important for developing the internal environment for Meditation.
Mula means ‘Root’. This Bandha initially helps you to get grounded when used in conjunction with the Exhale, however in Fire practice it is used with the Inhale to move energy into and up the spine.
Uddiyana means ‘To Lift’. This Bandha lifts your courage, will-power, fearlessness, healing capacity and energy levels. It is a key method for activating Kundalini Shakti, also known as Rudrani at the navel center.
When the Bandhas combine they transform an Asana into a Mudra.
Mudra represents the highest expression of the physical aspect of practice.
